Presidents Message

Have you made your plans for Fairbanks?  If not, please check out the website and take a look at their classes and get registered.

Please make a push to get the red raffle ticket sales going.  The Month of Guns raffle is proceeding along with winners being posted each day.  As you know, if you sell one of the red winning tickets you do get a cut of the prize of the money tickets.  The red raffle tickets will be drawn in Fairbanks at the banquet dinner.

Sitka has the pleasure of welcoming Former Fire Chief and Life Time ASFA Member Doug Karpstein to town for a few days.  Unfortunately he did not come up for a fun trip.  A long time friend had passed away.  Doug was a member of the department and turned the reins of the Sitka Fire Department over to Chief Miller in December of 1999.

JULY 1, 2011   The raffle drawing starts today. Check back daily to see who won.  Thanks for your support of this event.

Update - 5/21/2011

The Baranof Chapter of the ASFA has been working to sell raffle tickets for the July month of guns and the September money raffle.  Also working on plans for attending the Fairbanks Alaska Fire Conference.
We are beginning to plan our Fundraiser for our Aid to Member the last Saturday in July.

Update June 27 2011.  Got a look at the memorial first hand this weekend.  Things are going well.  The grass should be seeded in the next day or so.  Thanks to Mark Barker and Senior Captain Urbano and the Station 1 crew.  A big thank you to all members who have donated time or money to the project.

The Sitka Fire Department has secured the funding for purchasing a Pierce 75' Aerial.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the board for attending the spring board meeting in Anchorage the last weekend of March.

I would also like to thank Mark Barker for his work and his report on the status of the memorial.  As the weather warms up they are expecting to finish up the project.

I would also like to thank Casey Johnson for his work on the new website.

The ASFA raffle tickets have arrived in Sitka.  They will be ready to mail out in the next few days.  Please contact me with your requests for tickets.  They remain $10.00 each with 6000 tickets printed, first prize is again $15,000.00, second prize $5,000.00, third prize $2000.00, fourth prize $1000.00, the seller of each winning tickets also receives compensation for their effort.

I would like to congratulate Suzie for being elected to the NVFC executive board.  She received the most votes onto the board.  She will be updating the NVFC page as she gets time.
